① pass up a chance : 기회를 버리다(=to miss a chance[opportunity])

Owing to my health problem, I passed up a chance to go up the mountain.

(건강 문제로 난 그 산에 오를 기회를 포기했어.)

 

② pay for itself : 본전을 뽑다(=to recover one's investment)

I invested a big money in your invention. I hope it will pay for itself soon.

(난 자네 발명품에 거금을 투자했어. 그 발명품이 곧 본전을 뽑기 바래.)

 

③ phenomenal : 경이적인, 굉장한(=wonderful, marvelous, unbelievable)

Einstein's academic achievement was phenomenal.

④ photogenic : 사진을 잘 받는

⑤ pick up the tap : 비용을 지불하다(=to pay the bill)
